Girlychick, I'm not so much about PERFECT threads as just being able to get them... and I can tell when someone is typing from a phone, it comes across differently (to me anyways).... I text too.

There's nothing wrong with having fun, but it's gotta be understood first! lol I commend you for at least being aware and trying

This topic comes up rather frequently but I could still go on a rant about it every time. It annoys me to the point that I have actually considered banning my own sister from my facebook friends because her status updates are hideous. And no, before someone tries to exempt her from being a functioning member of society, she does not have a learning disorder and English is her first (and only) language.

Well.. I kind of agree. I like to post as legibly as possible, but some others do not. I do all my typing this way though, it my writing that is harder to understand.
Guess it does not matter to everyone, and not everyone has as good of typing skills as the rest of us.
I guess if you type slowly, then you might be able to miss some punctuation or spelling, and wouldnt feel like taking 5 minutes to edit.
But....I can see where this comes from, I have spoken to people who sound like they type, lol
The part I dont get is text speak..and Im still in my 20's... I guess Im just not that hip.

It's not just on the internet. I was at a young woman's graduation party last weekend. She just got her masters degree (not in English lol). In answer to a question she said, " Yes, I have went there a few times." I thought she should have her degree revoked lol. When I was in school (long ago) you would get points taken off on a history paper for bad spelling or grammer. I'm guessing they don't do that anymore.

I know several people who are very intelligent, but you would never know it from their writing.

Domino, I agree... English was a first language when I went to school.... another language was required but if you didn't pass English you didn't graduate.
