How do you resist Feed store chicks

I love chicks but, if I did get more birds I would get them at like 6 weeks so I don’t need to set up a heat source. I know that my neighbors got their birds as six week olds from a hardware store, and they got all hens. So come spring I might get new chicks. And lets hope that the ducklings and chicks are far away from each other because, I can accommodate new chicks, but there is no way I can fit ducks in there too.

I used to work for a huge vet practice and we saw pet store puppies all the time. My sister even got one even after I warned her. She had it for two weeks then ended up with an unfit for sale letter from her vet and a had to return it. I worry constantly about the chicks I get from a local hatchery I don't think I could take the mental anguish of those poor feed store chicks.

I'm going to argue and say that not all hatcheries are like that. Most of the feedstores near me get them from hatcheries that have decent birds. Not show quality, but not ones that are meant to die within a year

Seriously, you just have to back away from the chicks. Avoid the store. Buy three months of feed at a time so you aren't tempted to make a quick run past the bins when getting feed during "evil chick days". Spend all your time posting about to resist chicks instead of driving an hour to the store that sells them. Have a few drinks so you're in no condition to drive to the store.
