How do you say pied?

I'm sure this is a stupid question lol, but how to you pronounce "pied"? I live in the Piedmont of NC, so I say it like "peed-mont", but I think "pied" is pronounced like a pie with a "d" on the end?

Pied - as in piebald for spotted horses ... P-(eye)-bald.
