I just recently purchased two guinne fowl and I know that at least one of them is a hen due to the egg I found in their private lodging. How do you tell a rooster from a hen?

The female makes a two sylable sound spose to be "BUCK-Wheat" Male only does single sound. However female can do both. I would say the preatier one is the male, but then you would think you have two female.

A male gueinea has a considerably larger helmet then females they also like to chase eachother around in what i like to call "hot rod races" the male stands more erect while the female stays lower to the ground. As a member had previously pointed out the sounds are different. You can find both male and female calls on the internet and compare them to your guinea

I've always owned guineas and even being very experienced it is hard to tell by looking. The males do have bigger wattles, but it's not greatly exagerated as it is in chickens. So it's tough. The best way to tell, and you can with them being laying age, is the two syllables for hens and one for males. Your girl will Pot Rack, or Buck Wheat all day and your male will have a single whistle sound.
