How do you "show" you chickens at fairs etc?

I was wondering what the steps are to get your chicken into the fair etc, and have it judged, do you need to be in 4h, what all needs to be done?

I to wonder this as my son is 5 yrs old and would enjoy showing his WFBS bantam.

You should be able to get a book on this from your local 4H. I know we have one from last year and it has everyting you need to know. It basically covers poultry to be showed. I don't know the name of it, but do inquire with your local 4H leader. I did a quick search online and found this and it sounds similar to what we have:
