How do you stop a cat from jumping on things?

Don’t put your indoor cat outside, they are much safer indoors. Cats do like to get to high places. I have 2 tall sturdy cat trees in my living room and 2 large aquariums that my cats like to lounge on. Your cat needs something like this. To make the kitchen countertops less inviting try using double sided sticky tape or cut down some plastic floor mats that have the pointy spikes on the bottoms and put them upside down on the counters. Cats also don’t like the smell of citrus so you could cut up some fruits and lay the pieces up there.

OP had another thread, she took it in it was a stray. Agreed with rest.

The mouse traps under a dish towel sounds like a fine idea. There is also something called sticky paws or something. They come in strips and can be applied to inexpensive place mats. The surface is tacky and the cats don't like the feel of it.

I vote for single not double sided sticky duct tape as an instant cat karma redirect on their feet when you are asleep and/or not around. Spray bottle if you are around.

We gave up trying to train our cats to not jump on the kitchen counter and table. They pretty much own the house....we just live there and pay the mortgage. :lau We can't even have a Christmas tree this year because they climb it and knock off all the ornaments. It's a good thing they are cute.

we actually read that if you toss your cat gently into your Christmas tree that they won’t climb up we’ve done that for two years and she leaves the tree alone but only uses the tree stand as a water bowl. Apparently she likes the taste, also if we catch our cat on the table we just scoop/push her off. She always lands on her feet. And now we just have to stand up and she quickly jumps off. My cat sorta acts like a dog though so I think it all depends on the personality of the cat.
