How do you stop a turkey hen from laying?

Just let her lay! She is always going to be smaller than her Tom. She is laying out of season but most here would love to have a turkey hen that lays through the winter. Why don't you eat the eggs? Make a batch of huge deviled eggs for a super bowl party and really impress your friends with the size and taste of your giant deviled eggs!

My bourbon red hens have been laying in Northern VT all winter. They seem fine. The problem being come spring they probably will be on the end of their laying cycle when I want poults. They were hatched last April.

My Bourbon Reds are probably about 9 months old too and I've only had turkeys since November. My girls have been laying a lot since late December and I even caught one of them sitting on 13 eggs by the neighbor's cellar. It's full on winter here in western Maryland )thankfully without the snow of last winter, touch wood) but I'm still getting plenty of turkey, chicken and duck eggs, so I imagine I'll have crazy numbers by summer.

Let her lay and eat them up-they are soooo yummy. I think stopping a bird from laying would be like stopping a rooster crowing. It's what they do.

Lets see, you have a nice hen who follows you around and lays lots of yummy eggs. Sounds great to me. I think as long as she is healthy weight and getting plenty of food and water she should be fine. Happy healthy birds lay eggs as far as I can tell. Enjoy!!

you want her to stop cut her day light hours down she lays because she is getting enough camdle light hours resarch this turkeys chickens lay on a cycle of how many day light hours they get it sets a laying cycle second might increase her feed in take to get her bigger and up to par on weight
