How do you stop seperation anxiety in a dog?

Some thing to try is do not let her follow you around the house. Teach the sit and stay. Start her with sitting in the doorway but don't let her in the room with you. She can see you so she knows you are still there but shes not at your side. You can up the time she way from you and then shut the door. This teaches her its ok if shes not with you. You will come back. Please beware this problem will most likely be a round the life of the dog in some form. Get a kong toy or a everlasting treat ball and only give it to her when you leave. You want her to want you to leave because that awesome toy comes out when you do. The biggest thing to remember that will have the most effect is how you come and go. DO NOT make a fuss when you do just go. Ignore the dog. When she has calmed down and is laying down or sitting but not staring at you. Pet her and say hi calmly. This is what helped the most with my dog.

Good suggestions there too. I always told mine "take care of the house" when I was walking out the door. And when I got home, I greated him calmly.
