How do you store your poultry feed?

I mix my own feed by buying a variety of products. I mix and store everything in the same container. I use a large black plastic trash can with a tight fitting lid.

Tips on where to get bulk grains from? I'm having a horrible time finding them for a decent price.

I use a metal garbage can!
It holds 1 1/2 bags of feed if you keep them in the bag, and 2 bags if you empty them into it.
The lid makes an air tight seal so the rain can't get in.

Yes i have used the kitty litter pails.......for feed and waterers with nipples as well. been doing it for years with no ill effects to my girls.

I've asked at every feed store and milling company within a 50 mile radius about buying bulk grains. They all only handle commercial pre-bagged feeds and whole or ground corn. I cannot find one milling company that produces their own feed or has different grains available. Gone are the good old days when a milling company was actually a milling company. That's the case for us anyway.

Closest mill to me is 100 miles away and the smallest amount I can purchase is one ton. Its a really good deal. But DANG Where to put two thousand pounds of feed.

The best a person could do is go in as a co-op Split a basic order x amount of ways then do additions yourself.

When they dish this stuff up it comes in the form of a Direct dump into your pickup. So dividing it is an adventure.

Azure Standard seems to have really great prices on bulk grains and if you live where they have a drop off (and a minimum order is met) the shipping is free! I haven't done it yet, but have heard really great things.

Unless the walls in the shed are made of plastic, tin, or covered in tile.... dont assume hanging will protect the treats. Mice are really good jumpers as well. Plastic grocery bags would make a good purchase for a landing.
