How do you tame/handle chicks that are being raised by hens

How do you tame/handle chicks that are being raised by hen. I have a wonderful BO hen raising 5 chicks but whenever I try to touch the chicks they run even if the mom is sitting in my lap. She is very friendly. How can I handle and tame the chicks. I would like to do this in case I need to treat one of them for injury etc.

Good question! I have one single chick that was hatched and is being raised by it's mother. My problem is that if I try and catch the chick, the hen flogs me almost as bad as any roo could!
