The only material I've read involves clicker training, but im wondering if it would be possible to train them without a clicker? One of my chickens will spin if i twirl my hand around with a treat in it, and a few others will jump, but that's about as close as I've come. How could I train my chickens to do more tricks wihtout a clicker? What are some recommendations of tricks to teach?

my husband "teaches" the chickens to do tricks by feeding them (and clicking a clicker) the instant they do something he wants to re-enforce. The combination of food and a sound seems to work. So far he has taught three of them to sit on a chair and wait for treats, the roo to crow on command and to come into the family room and roost on the back of the sofa. I am not to crazy about that one but our kids love it.

BTW, he says roos are easier to train than hens.

Read up on "clicker training" for dogs.
