Upright Posture is seen in females too, more so the dominant hens, it could be a breed trait as well.A Hen will not walk as upright, will have smaller comb and wattles, will not develop spurs
Seen plenty of hens/pullets with thicker legs. I have some.most of the time will have thiner legs.

Depends on the breed, on comb, & wattle size.
