i have 3 peafowl. 2 of them have coryza. one is a small indian blue pied male.about 6 months.hes had it for a while and i think i may have to end up culling him.the other one that has it is my 1 1/2 - 2 year old indian blue male.
the smallest one has had it for about 3 months.ive been treating him with eucalyptus oil.the lady at the feed store said it will cure anything.well ive been treating him with that for a while and he still has it.the big male has only had it for 2 days.
i made him go into the coop before the big snow storm came and he just all of a sudden got it.i hate that because he always roosts up in the trees and has been very healthy until now.what can i do???!!!!!im scared that he might die.i really dont want that!!!!

heres the weird part....i also have a indian blue pied peahen.she is like the mother to the little guy and has been mothering him since hes had coryza and she is totally fine.she puts her wing over him and tries to preen him and everything but she doesnt have it.why does she not have it after being a mother to the little one for so long and the big male has only been in the coop for 2 days and he got it.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I WOULD LOVE FOR THEM TO BE HEALTHY AGAIN!
THANKS!
COLE.

Here I found this under chickens, hope it helps. Also try a search for coryza, alot of info should come up. Also from what I read it is unlikely for him to die, it is more like a cold than anything else.
You don't have to put down anything yet. Mortality rate with coryza, if it is coryza, is said to be around 10%. I have found it to be higher in younger stock. Here is what to do:

1. Separate the sick.
2. Clean out the pen where the flock is housed. Spray it with a mixture of bleach and water. I use 1 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water. Let the pen air out and put back fresh straw.
3. Start adding 1 oz of bleach to 1 gallon of the drinking water. Do this from now on. Use plastic waterers. When sickness breaks out up the bleach to 2 ozs. You will still need to clean out the waterers at least once a week.
4. Go to the feed store and buy Duramycin (Oxytetracycline) injectable: also, 10 ml syringes.
Give the medicine by mouth: this works faster than injecting. Only give it to the sick ones. For you birds give it at the rate of 1/2ml the first day (that is a MASSIVE dose) and 1/4ml each day after this for 5 to 7 days.

Understand, you have chickens. They will get sick and die. Don't panic just do what I've outlined. It is simple and relatively successful. You might still lose some. saladin

Are you sure it is Coryza? Does it have a very, very stinky smell about the face? What are the other symptoms. Coryza is a respiratory disease that can be very contagious, so you must keep them away from other fowl and make sure to feed and handle them last so you do not contaminate any other stock. Best meds for treatment are Tylan 50 or LA 200 injectable, injected into the brest muscle or given the liquid down the throat. make sure to clean their environment very well with pool bleach and I'd look into getting the Coryza vaccine to vaccinate anyone on the property to prevent it from spreading if you have other birds.

I don't want to make anyone mad

, BUT, PLEASE DO NOT INJECT IN THE BREAST, inject at the base of the neck just under the skin just above where the neck meets the wings, I would also use Tylan 200 or LA 200 like chickenzoo said, Tylan 50 has never worked for us.
