When viewing the list of forums on the main page, how important is seeing the number of posts in that forum? If it's important to you, please explain why.

I'm more likely to help out the folks whom haven't received any responses to their post. I want to help them because so many great and knowledgeable folks helped me when I was starting out. When I see a LOT of responses, I tend to de-prioritize those until I have more time.

When viewing the list of threads, do you need to know who wrote the original post in a topic? Is seeing the number of pages in each topic important to you? How about the time and author of the latest post in a topic? Number of responses?

Generally speaking, no. Though there's a few very hard-headed folks who will just NOT do their homework and ask the questions over and over again, learning nothing from anyone who tries to help. Those folks are attention seeking and I feel perfectly content to ignore them. Seeing the number of pages doesn't really concern me, though I do take note of it. Time and author of latest post is a non-event. Same with number of responses.

Once you get around to reading a thread, what info do you want to be able to see about each person who posted a message? Username, avatar, title, from, date registered, number of posts, online/offline, realname, etc... And why? I really wish folks would post where they are from! Its incredibly difficult for many subjects to respond appropriately without knowing where they are. Real names aren't of interest to me, I'm more interested in how you name yourself than how your parents did. Knowing where folks are is vitally necessary in the WANT TO BUY section - its insanely frustrating when they are looking for birds and you have to dig through each and every post to find out who is in your area.

How often do you use the following features: recent posts, unanswered posts, unread posts, subscribed topics, list of your posts... Do you ever use the "users online" list?

Recent posts is my all time favorite part of the boards since the chat was disbanded (still upset by that). Lists of my posts is useful because I use mine heavily to find research I've posted.

If you were accessing BYC from your phone, would this change any of your requirements? If so, please explain.

The phone thing I worry about, as I have a Blackberry. I use FB quite often on it and I'd love to be able to respond to posts and email chains. Specifically, I'd really like to be able to see what messages people sent me via my email, instead of having to log into the site via BB. Real pain in the butt, that.

I'd like to know the purpose of this survey before providing info about my personal browsing habits. If I recall correctly, you are the person who tries to upload/download info about the BYC site and sometimes posts topics called "test"? Please explain your motives.

Thanks!

Not too important but the info is important to know on the people answering.

Is seeing the number of pages in each topic important to you? yes

Once you get around to reading a thread, what info do you want to be able to see about each person who posted a message?
just basically what is there already

How often do you use the following features:
Always - recent posts
Never - unanswered posts, unread posts
Fairly often - subscribed topics
Sometimes - list of your posts...

Do you ever use the "users online" list?- No

The only thing that I would like to see is if I hover the mouse on a thread title, it would show me more of the first sentence, so I can decide whether or not I wanna read the thread. I have dial up, and I am not young. Anything to save a minute or so.

Now that I am getting use to seeing certain names, but no it really is not required.

Number of responses? yes

Once you get around to reading a thread, what info do you want to be able to see about each person who posted a message? how many posts they have made, if they are a moderator, BYC educator, where they are from, what type of chickens they have. I really love seeing others BYC pages when they create them.

Username, avatar, title, from, date registered, number of posts, online/offline, realname, etc... And why? I do like all this info if the person wants to supply it. They are so cute and personable. This is such a fun as well as informative website that these little extras help us to share a little more info about ourselves with others.

How often do you use the following features: recent posts, unanswered posts, unread posts, subscribed topics, list of your posts... The only one I personally have not used is the unanswered posts.

Do you ever use the "users online" list?

I would really hope you would be able to use all the same features. Photos, messages, but maybe change the way you post pics. (not having to erase the img letters) etc.

When viewing the list of forums on the main page, how important is seeing the number of posts in that forum? If it's important to you, please explain why. Not important

When viewing the list of threads, do you need to know who wrote the original post in a topic? No, since I'm new around here I don't one person from another. Is seeing the number of pages in each topic important to you? No How about the time and author of the latest post in a topic? No Number of responses? I tend to respond to post with fewer responses rather than more. Being a newbie myself it feels good to be welcomed aboard and offered words of encouragement. I try to pass that on to other newbies as well so they will stick with BYC.

Once you get around to reading a thread, what info do you want to be able to see about each person who posted a message? Username, avatar, title, from, date registered, number of posts, online/offline, realname, etc... And why? ]I'm more interested in what they have to say/want to know rather than how long they've been a member, avatar, etc.

How often do you use the following features: recent posts, unanswered posts, unread posts, subscribed topics, list of your posts... Do you ever use the "users online" list? I go often to recent unread posts for the the reasons listed in the second question. I refer often to lsits of my posts so I can see responses and re-respond if necessary,

If you were accessing BYC from your phone, would this change any of your requirements? If so, please explain. Not sure - I'll have to think about this one.
