I toss them out the kitchen window and the chickens gobble them up in seconds. Zero crushing is needed
Yes I don't grind mine either, they seem to break it apart themselves by grabbing the eggshell in their beaks and hitting it on the ground to break it apart:D Smart things❤️

My chickens like crushed egg shells better than any other form of calcium. I have oyster shell out too, but that's not their preference.
We've tried the usual oyster shells and then flaked oyster shells. Barely see them peck at it. The second I put in crushed egg shells? Immediate fan favorite!

Also - I recently learned that 'Glass Gem Corn' isn't like sweet corn (may have been obvious to some, but here we are lol) but can still be used for cornmeal/corn flour. I make alot of tortillas but the problem with making your own corn flour, is it's not going to taste like Maize from the local Carniceria. SO - that leads me to the eggshell powder. You use it to boil the corn kernels in; a process called nixtamalization (mostly used with some other form of calcium hydroxide like pickling lime or ash), making them like a hominy & it's great for masa dough (and has that 'signature' taste)!

Sometimes I use the shells of eggs we have eaten - just roughly crumble and put in the avairys for the caged birds to have as calcium supplement.
My daughter used to paint them back when she was in High school - but does not have the time now she is working full time as an Environmental Scientist.
