How do your chicks sleep???

At 6 weeks old, My 10 White rocks still sleep altogether in a single nesting box. They like to take about 1/2 hour to settle in. They push each other around to struggle to get the front part of the box. This week they moved to the highest box in the coop about 4 feet off the ground. I worry that they will fall out of the box but that has yet to happen. Will they always sleep altogether? Should i build them a larger nesting box?

Yes, they do sprawl all over. I had to do a double-take last night, when I saw the wrinkly bald head of my Turken which appeared to be emerging from the puffy heinie of my EE.
More fun than T.V.!

That scared me too when I saw it the first time, I was covinced something was terribly wrong. It's so good to have this forum to set my mind at rest!!

All three were snuggled up the other day, two asleep and the third one decided she wanted to move away and totally walked over the top of one of the others to do so!!

Or maybe mentally blocked out poop

When my chick was still a yellow fuzzball, she liked to sleep flat, her head on the ground. Her neck looked incredibly long like that! Now she sleeps on a perch but we cover her at night so I haven't seen if her head hangs lol...

Hi - new to babies and relieved to read your posts. Just picked up 1 two day old blue orp and 2 four day old suffolk. Bluebell is very sleepy - how much sleep do they need? It is evening here now - should I be worried? :|

I had a cornish bantam decide that his favorite perch (on top of the waterer) was a great place to nap.....he was a little too close to the edge because one second I look over and he is dozing and the next second I hear "flapflapflap!!!!" and he was on the floor looking around like , "OK, who's the WISEGUY!?"

They sleep a LOT! Especially the first few days after traveling. They are in a natural rhythm with getting sleepy when it is getting dark and that is very normal!
