How do your EEs lay?

Quote:
Hmm...I want a couple, but I really want some top producing birds (and they need to lay over the winter, and I highly prefer early maturers, at least this year). I can only keep a limited amount of birds, but we use quite a few eggs and I like to have a lot leftover to sell. I don't want just Gold Links in my flock, either, though if they end up being the majority of it, that'd be okay.

The EEs are really cute and I liked the idea of having a couple 'special' colored layers.

Hmm...

We have 4 EE's in the brooder now, they are our first EE's ever. Our current layers are BO's and BLW's and we LOVE
them. They are great layers. Our BO's started laying in winter and out of 13 girls we get 8-12 eggs a day. I just wanted to recommend
these breeds if you want good layers. They are great all around IMO.

Ours lay 5-6 days per hen per week . They start to lay at various ages. I've had them start at 22-25 weeks, but the May/June hatches may wait 30+ weeks due to the decreasing daylight in Fall.

ETA: Most of them lay large eggs, but there are some medium, some XL. I have one girl that lays jumbos and occassionally a double yolk followed by a wind egg the next day. The colors vary from sky blue, pale blue, minty green, army green.

My EE lay a good sized egg each day. And once, one layed one early in the morning and another later that afternoon. They have only been laying for a couple months right now.

My EE's lay beautiful blue/green eggs every day. They have alot of personality as well. Pretty birds, everyone should have a few

I have 17 EE girls of whom are 21 weeks old. Not an egg from any of them. However, one of them (Banshee is her name) has shed her chick sounds and makes noises more like a dinosaur raptor. I believe she will lay eggs soon. Fingers crossed!

I have 3 adult, actually 3+ year old EEs. They started laying at 21 and 22 weeks. They are good layers of 5-6 eggs a week. All my older birds take a break in the winter. I added 18 birds this April. 5 comets pullets, 5 barred rock pullets, 5 EE pullets and 3 EE roos. My one EE roo is huge and has been crowing since 8 weeks. I am hoping for lots of EE and mixed chickies. I have not one bad thing to say about EEs.

I have 3 EEs. One is at 26 weeks, one at 23 weeks and one's only 17 weeks. No eggs yet from any of them. The comb of the eldest is getting quite plump and stays bright red most of the time. It's quite hot here, around 100 degrees for the past 2 weeks, so I don't know if this would put off egg laying. Does anyone know anything about how the heat might effect this? I rush home every day and check for eggs - can't wait! I do know that they are wonderful birds with sweet personalities. Well, two of mine are. One doesn't like to be handled so much but I still love them all.

I have an EE bantam that consistently lays 4-5 eggs a week and a 15 week old standard EE who is too young to expect eggs from yet. My bantam started laying at 22 weeks and has only missed laying during the time she was broody. I didn't know she was a bantam until I realized she wasn't growing any more. By then we were attached to her - she is such a little cutie - and part of the flock so I kept her. Occasionally two of my Brahmas pick on her but the Australorps protect her. She lays the cutest little pink egg.

Mine is 27 weeks and laid her first egg today! I've never been so excited! I must have texted this picture to 25 people - gorgeous olive green egg! She's also my favorite chicken (sshhh - I don't want the others to know). She follows me around the yard and when I'm in the coop, she goes to the highest roost so we can be eye to eye and we have a nice little chat every day. Love her!
