How does a duck go broody?

So far 1 duckling has hatched. Are you keeping her and the duckling secure for now? a lone duckling is so vulnerable to predation.
As for chicken eggs, it's hard to say what the rest of the hatch is going to look like it maybe very staggered and she may not continue to sit. Any chicks that hatch could drown if Bev decides to take her ducklings swimming so might be a good idea to take any chicks that hatch and brood them yourself or give them to a broody chicken.

We put up a barrier to keep all the other animals away from her while she continues to sit. I’ll definitely take the chicks away if she hatches them. I’m really hoping the duckling will have a sibling.
Meanwhile we have a chicken that has gone brood in an unsecured area and I’m worried about moving her and having her abandon the nest.
