Yes, too long, too narrow, not enough "fluff" and the lacing needs to be more defined.

I like the lacing on that hen, but do not like the angle at which the tail attaches to the back. There should be no angle, it should just be a continuous 'line' up the back all the way to the tail. It seems as though the silver-laced Wyandottes have either had more work put into them, or are more popular because the lacing on them as well as their bodies are just gorgeous.

Is she 5 or 6? One month can make a lot of difference on the body size of a bird.

It is 6 months I believe. She is about 25 weeks old I was thinking I got her in October for some reason. So when you say that a month can make a lot of difference do you mean that she could fill out better and end up looking like a good bird or just some size diference. When do birds stop getting their feathers?

Birds never stop getting feathers. They will lose them and regrow them.

No, she's going to look like a production bird for the rest of her life. It's just one of those things. A production bird won't magically change into a top notch show bird.

When I say a month can make a lot of difference, here is what I mean. This is my bird at 9 months:

Notice the tail is not grown in at all? He needs more time to grow his tail out and to "fill" out.

Here is the same bird at 10 months old:

See how much the tail has grown in?

You can see that his stance is "taller" and fuller than in the 9 month old photo. You can see he's starting to fill in and grow into those legs of his:

His tail is still not finished but he's almost finished out.

Wow that is a really good looking bird! Where would you get a good show bird from?

Each breed has different breeders that are "tops", but a good place to get a "start" from is Superior Farms in Yukon, OK.

They bought out all the "big name" breeders and are now selling show-quality stock. It's a good place to get the starter flock from, so you can see the differences between production and show birds. They have the top Brahmas, and their Silver Laced wyandottes are to DIE for. Their gold-laced are darn good too.

As for Wyandotte breeders, that's gonna be difficult. I suggest contacting Katy on this board to see if she knows of anyone. I'm into Langshans and Barred Rocks, so I know little to nobody in the Wyandotte area.
