How does one clean a deep fryer??

My hubby is the King of the Deep Fryer. He saved his rewards points from work and got a T-Fal fryer. Every once in a while I run it. But for the most part he takes care of it cooking, cleaning and all. Ours has a removable bin that can be soaked in the sink so he fills the sink with soapy hot water and lets it sit for a couple minutes before scrubbing it. I don't think he would let me clean it. It's his baby.
