How does one know who lays what???

My Light Brahmas lay light brown to medium brown, some have dark speckels on them. My hens don't all lay the exact same color, close but different. I only have light Brahma hens, and simply love the magestic ones.

Well, ummmm, I've had those before, too. A Light Brahma hen lays a brown egg . . .

Okay, if'n I'd need to pick a speckled egg layer, I'd have chosen the LB or BR. Both of my BR's are inclined that way.

Can it be a very light brown? Like almost a pinkish brown? That's what I found on the floor this morning but it had peck marks in it so I had to throw it out.

Yep, it's possible. Out of my 12 hens, one hen (momma) lays a light brown egg with a pinkish sorta hue. She is also a beautiful specimen.

Except in some notable cases. I have a silkie x with iridescent turquoise ears.

If she ever lays eggs of that color, I'm going to be rich selling them all.

As in, red-earlobed breeds lay dark-shelled eggs (usually brown) and white-earlobed breeds lay white eggs. I don't know why this is, but it's the most bizarre chicken thing ever.
