How does the incubating craze get started?

I wrote this note to my sister...

Hello!! I am getting hatching eggs! Woohoo! Mine haven't started laying yet, grrr.
It was kind of an accident really. I was online at Backyardchickens.com and I clicked the eggs and chicks for sale link to see what was out there. Man, I thought. These people are crazy! Lookee at all the eggs being sold. Someone would post a load of eggs for sale and BAM they were gone! I got so caught up in the excitement that before I could help myself BAM, I bought a load. Then I had to call my hubby and ask if it was ok if I had some eggs.
Well, while I was waiting for his reply to my text message, I was watching the screen and BAM I bought some more. Incredible. I couldn't help myself really. He is being a good sport about it and offered to build an incubator. That was one little detail I was a little unclear on. Never thought it thru it happened so fast. Just BAM and it was over. So, as we were building the incubator he asked me about the size of incubator I would need. Sizes? You need to know sizes? "Well how many eggs did you get?", he asked. I paused a moment and said, "Well, let's see. The first batch was 24 plus some extras. Then while I was waiting for your reply another batch of twelve came along." He just looked at me and then ...

Yep that is how the insanity starts! LOL

I am trying sooooooooooooooo hard to buy any right now, though I know I need to. I don't incubate I have my little broody silkies to do their job... so it keeps me in check with how many I can buy. (I don't think my silkies can hatch 3 dz?!)

Then I hatch, keep one I really like... and sell the rest!

Its pretty addicting to the point I hatched ducks under my chickens just because I could! LOL

Wait until you want turkeys or geese!!!!

That is funny! I did the exact same thing and had to next day air 2 incubators.
