how dominate is the faverolle gene??? couple questions. pic added

i have another now.... barred with five toes but no feathers on its feet. the other thing i noticed is the one today have white or light legs and the one in the pic has yellow legs. gets more intresting by the second.

I've bred a BR hen with a SLW and a SF roo, both result in what is largely a BR looking chick. From my limited experience I have noticed that the more 'pure' the breed, i.e. minimal breed mixing to create the type, the more dominant the traits. For example, BRx and BAx may result in varied comb and toes, but largely retain the characteristics of their type. My other breeds: SLW, SS and Welsummer are more of a mixed bag with the SS and Welsummer showing the most characteristic change when crossed. A few days out from hatching it was very easy to tell which hens the chicks came from; all retained coloring, although the SS and Welsummer were a bit 'off'. The BRx all retained their head spots.

Here's a pic of a 4 week old SFxBR roo, note the 5 toes.

Pictures of SFxSS roo and SFxBA pullet from the same brood. The SSx has 5 toes, feathered legs and varied feathering, the BA type in the BAx is largely intact.

Finally, here's a pic of a 12 week SLWxBR roo with a rose comb and HUGE feet; followed by a pic of a 17 week SLWxBA pullet...flanked to the left by another SLWxBA pullet and a SLWxWelsummer pullet.
