How early can you accurately sex Barred Rock chicks?

Thank you!!! Looks like Barred Rocks will be the majority of my order next spring!

I did have a barred Rock roo that had the black splash down the leg, but for me its the lighter color and the headspot.also they will comb alot sooner that the girls. by 3 weeks they or at least mine had larger combs that were pink instead of beige color. I discovered this the hard way. Out of 7 barred rocks I ended up with 6 roos. Only one kept me guessing til saddle feathers came in. He was darker smaller comb til he was 10 weeks. Now I have 3 more in the brooder and am pretty sure all pullets.

Would you agree that one of these two Barred Rocks is a male? They were both sold to me as pullets, and should be the same age.

If so, how do Barred Rock roosters behave? I think I already have a few cockerels in my bunch, and hope I don't have to rehome any of them. If they can all get along, that would be fantastic.

I have 3 Barred Rock and 3 RIR's. One of my BR look different than the other two. It's prettier if that makes sense lol. The lines and more pronouced, the legs are lighter, and the tail feather are non existent compared to the other two birds. It also has a much more pronouced right on the top of the beak. Can y'all help me figure out if she is a he?

"Their plumage is black and white barred which is the result of the barred (B) gene. Because males are the homozygous sex, they have two barred alleles (BB) and are therefore lighter in color than the females, which are the heterogametic sex and have only one barred allele(B_)." - Ideal Hatchery

How early can you accurately sex Barred Rocks?

I'm just wondering because my family tried Cornish X meat birds for the first time this year. They are now three weeks old and are very high maitenance. You have to take away the food in the evening and put it back in the morning. You have to change their bedding every day, and even then, they're stinking up the house from the basement (they poop a LOT). And we know from research that this is just the beginning.

Last year we tried RIR and BR roosters, and they were really tough, only good for dumplin's and soup. And they were REALLY mean to the pullets.

So, we're thinking about caponizing dual purpose breed birds. To do that, you need to know the gender at three to five weeks old. And I'm not willing to buy sexed males from a hatchery, as they are way to pricey, if you ask me. I'd like to be able to hatch my own...
You could try black sexlink cockerels. They are a barred Rock, RIR cross. Only the barred chicks are cockerels.

So my chicks are now almost 8 weeks. I definitely think this one is a roo. Please tell me if I'm wrong!

A clear comb shot in natural light without a flash is the best way to get an accurate photo of the comb color. Aside from showing 3 barred Rocks and a Production Red in that photo, I can't see much else.
