I would maybe like to raise some chuckar next year, get a dozen fertilized eggs or so...Are they pretty much like quail?Do they need 1sqft per bird? And when is a good time to butcher them and how big will they be.Also can you eat there eggs?

Chukar Are True Gamebirds--- Not Like Coturnix. Chukar Bobs And Pheasants Require Lotsa Space Kid.... And No They Arent Nearly As Easy To Raise Or Keep. Eggs Are Edible. The Birds Themselves Are Decent Size--- Say Cornish Game Hen Sized. Quite Tasty Too! They Are Like Bobs In That They Mature And Grow Way Slower Than Coturnix And They Can Mean To Each Other If Not Housed In Appropriate Pens--- But When They Are Mean They Turn Into Peck Monsters And Kill Each Other Like Mad.

Just A Suggestion--- Settle In With Your Coturnix. Get Good At Hatching And Raising Them, Learn How To Care For And Manage Your Flock, Then Slowly Work Your Way Up The Gamebird Ladder--- There's A Big Learning Curve To Gamebirds That Usually Doesnt Apply To Coturnix. These Eggs Are A Bit More Expensive And More Delicate To Incubate--- Practice And Master Cheap And Easy, This Will Give You Experience To Use Later With The Expensive And Hard Stuff! Then As You Can Afford It Work Your Way Up In A Patient Manner--- All Gamebirds Are Truely Beautiful And Amazing In Their Own Individual Ways. And The Facination Of Them Can Be Quite Alluring--- But The Peculularities Of Each Speces Can Make Incubating/ Raising/ Managing A Lil Daunting And I Know Your New To All This--- If Not Done Correctly It Will Be Overwhelming And Very Very Frustrating And Expensive---

Chuckar, about like ringneck pheasant. same care, need about the same room, if not will peck each other to death.

Eggs taste about the same also.

Thanks for the replies, its just that on the research ive been doing about them it said they are extremly easy to raise......I guess not

.But I guess il stick with the coturnix.........for now muahahahah.lol jking

They are easy to raise, harder to sex, need more room than coturnix. Nothing is as easy as coturnix, you can grow them like weeds.
