How far do we let the coyotes go?

Consider using electrified poultry netting of the 48" tall variety. If they jump it then place a single strand of hotwire on its perimeter about 1 foot outside netting to deny the coyotes the ability to jump.

@centrachid thank you for replying. We walked our property with a fence guy trying to figure out a way to add fencing, electrified or otherwise. Unfortunately with several hundred feet of street exposure and a circular driveway and HOA regulations on fence and wall heights there is no way to do it in a secure way. We have a small interior courtyard around the chicken coop and pen that is now more secure since my husband added a two door topper of chicken wire to keep the hens from getting out into the larger yard. Not pretty, but it works as long as we are right there to monitor any intruders.

The coyotes are bad this year I live out in the Oregon outback so WAY out in the middle of nowhere lol .... I don't mean to offend anyone and please don't take it the wrong way, but if you shoot one, skin it and hang it's bladder where others can catch a wif it sends a message to the others that somethings preying on them.... And they stay away for months at a time..... I know it's yucky and barbaric but you can't argue the results

gimp32, my husband skinned out the coyote that I shot and hung it on our property; we haven't seen one since. He's done the same thing with ravens too, hang up the dead bird and it keeps the others away. I agree it's gross but if it works, I'll go along with it.

Bawkbawk, have you tried contacting the game warden regarding the coyotes? Our game warden is really good here regarding trapping problem animals and taking them far away and releasing them. Usually he has to deal with bears but other animals as well. He's got all sorts of live traps for different predators.

Lol yes you have a right to protect your family and homestead I would get a firearm but some people don't like them. Like everyone on my wife's side of family lol

Like I said that post wasn't for everyone.... Keep in mind I live I the single most remote area of the U.S not kidding. We have more Cougars, badgers, bears, and prong horn than people lol there isn't even a jail or courthouse within 100 miles, but all that aside your pretty much on your own out here. We have multiple large groups of coyotes that roam free out here and it's up to you to protect your stock...... You have to improvise...... Again if you live in the burbs for God sakes don't string up a bloody carcass.....plant a lilac bush coyotes don't like them lol that's not on Wikipedia

Quote: LOL @centrarchid I think this is the first time I have laughed in a week. Our HOA and most of our neighbors would have OUR hides if we did this.

@gimp32 how on earth do lilacs repel coyotes? I will plant a hedge of them if that is so!

There is strain for the love of me I can't remember the strain that's poison it's pretty but poison and for some reason they don't go near it...... Relax it's harmless to humans
