How far do YOU go to get the chicken coop clean.

The best defense against external parasites is to make sure your chickens have a dry dust bath. In areas that get a lot of rain, it's good to provide one that's covered. They can't take a dust bath in mud. Regardless of how you treat them after you discover the problem, adding a dust bath that's always dry will help keep the problem from recurring.

The first time I had to clean the coop I immediately wanted to use our shop vac. My bf said no, it was gross blah blah blah. So I said "ok, then show me a good way." He definitely handed over the shop vac after that. I don't think it's gross, it's not like I vacuum my clean laundry or anything. The leaf blower was rough.

My ducklings get their yard very muddy around the kiddy pool. It works pretty good to dump lawn clippings in there to sop up the water, theyll rake it around for you looking for stuff to eat. Rake it out later to mulch garden.
