I started in August with some chicks I found locally. This guy was a week old when I got him on 8/18. This first photo is him at about 2 weeks old:

And here he is at 5 weeks old:

He's there in the background behind the BO - 9 weeks old:

And at 16 weeks, he is crowing and feeling quite manly:

At 23 weeks, the comb/wattles have developed much bigger than in the last pic...

And here he is a few days later:

(almost 5lb dressed). Kinda miss the boy, as he was very friendly, always ran to me for treats, never tried to flog me. Unfortunately, he also liked the sound of his own voice an increasing amount and I couldn't risk alienating my neighbors....But I was reflecting today, as I brought in two eggs from his "sisters", how amazing it is that they can go from hatching to producing their own eggs in less than six months, which made me want to memorialize this guy's short life from hatchling to fully-fledged rooster, also in less than six months.

wow...that really shocked me! But then I am just a city guy with 'pets'...BUT then that baked dinner looks wonderful..i guess we just never think of where our food comes from...it really shocked me!?! ..Food for thought!

Beautiful bird. Shame. Funny in a very morbid way though, like the Far Side.

Ask not why the chicken crossed the road, but why the road got in the way of the chicken.
