My broody hen was sitting on 10 eggs. 2 pipped on day 17 and only one hatched. Sometime between midnight and 6 AM the hen decided she didnt' want to sit on the rest of hte eggs and moved herself and her 1 chick to a different nest. I put the eggs in the bator but don't know if they're still alive. How much wiggle room do I have if the eggs were cooled?

They were supposed to hatch this weekend.

They are probably fine if was only for about 6 hours or so. By this time the eggs are kept somewhat warm from the chick's body heat. Now that you've got them in the bator just make sure you don't open it since you should be on lockdown. Also, don't put these new babies in with the mama until night time so she won't peck them. Good luck!

I have 11 duck eggs that I moved from the bator to under a broody last week. Two days ago she got confused and got back onto the wrong nest after her daily constitutional. The eggs were cold to the touch and she could have been off them anywhere from 4-8 hours. This moring when I went out to do chores I could hear peeping under her. I have no idea how many will hatch after that little snafu, but somebody is alive under there so I bet you'll have some hatch too.
