how good are broody hens when it comes to incubating

I hatched out 5 eggs under a broody. She was an excellent mother, very protective.

Awesome! I put eggs under 3 broodies this week alone. Just a little while ago, I put Sebright eggs under a bantam cochin hen, and she just settled right down on top of them. She'd been sitting on a ceramic egg for the past couple of days, so I figured I'd give her some real ones to sit on.
I'll take broodies over an incubator any day!
