What breed is she supposed to be? BBRed is a variety. She looks small so an Old English? One thing I see right off is her white earlobes. I believe they should be red and though I'm not positive on this, her head and hackle feathers look to be too yellow, like maybe she has some lemon in her as well.

Hi Silkie,

Wondering if you can help me since you know what an Old English BB hen looks like.

We have eight 1 month old chicks. Seven of them have reddish combs, but three of those are pinker than the others, not as red. The photo of what they look like is in my avatar.

There is one hen for sure, she has hardly any comb, and it is tan.

I posted this question earlier and most folks told me I have seven roosters and one hen out of a batch of eight eggs. Ugh. But maybe those folks don't know that OEBB hens also have combs.

Am I right? How can I best tell hens from roosters at this age? I need to tell asap, since we only have room for three, and I need to decide which three to keep. Obviously I want hens, but may not have a choice. Can you help?
