How high can raise chicken tractor be raised during transport without chickens escaping?

How high can raise chicken tractor be raised during transport without chickens escaping? I plan to have swivel castor wheels that fold under but when folded back will lift the tractor up. This way I can move the tractor in any direction. However I do not know what the highest clearance would still keep the chickens in when they are in the run. A 10" wheeled castor would lift it a total of 12". A 6" castor only lifts it 8". I was also thinking a loose flap of material hanging might keep them in but don't want to bother if they will stay in with these heights.

Thank you for responding. I saw some videos of people moving their tractors with the chickens running around inside. I thought this was perfectly normal way to do it.

We wait until the girls are in the coop portion and shut the coop door before we move the tractor. We go veeeery slow and haven't knocked anyone off the roost yet. The only down side is that we have a very short window of opportunity to move it, we have to be right there when the girls go in at night. Guess you could move it in the morning before letting them out.

Wouldn't want to move it with the chickens in the run portion. Too much of a risk of them escaping and - worse - a bird getting injured.

My tractor raises about 4" and then rolls freely. I can easily move it with the layers down on the ground - they just walk along. But the Silkies.... Dear Lord, the Silkies.... They refuse to walk with it, and instead sit down and let it roll over them.

There is nothing magical about the mechanism that raises/lower my tractor. If you want close-ups of it so you can re-create it, let me know.

Even if the chickens get out they will not go far, and as soon as it starts to get dark they will go back in the coop...But it would have to be really close to the ground to keep them inside the tractor.

My question is how will I get them from the coop with a covered run into the tractor?
I imagine it will be quite a sight the first few times.
