That seems like sorta asking for trouble, even if it's like 70 degrees out... is there a reason for not leaving the heat lamp on?? Is it for fire-hazard reasons? As long as you have the heat lamp hung properly, i.e. to two different strong structural parts of the barn and hung by sturdy wires or chains, not rope or the cord, it should be just fine.
If you are super paranoid about fire, what about putting a regular 100watt light bulb in that morning (note: let the heatlamp bulb COOL DOWN for a few minutes before you try to unscrew it, otherwise you can damage it beyond repair), and possibly lower the lamp a bit.
It really seems to me that at only 2 wks old, they need to have somewhere that they *can* go to warm up if they need to.
JMHO,
Pat
