How I botched my first attempt at killing a chicken~~hoping that others will learn from my mistakes

wondering about this my self. i want to this the most humane way, i know it is a fact of life but i want it to be as quick and less stressful for me and the bird.i am a butcher by trade and know how to process many animals for proper cuts of meat. just never really killed my domestic animals and want to be ss respectful as i can.

The op post is exactly why I dont like the slitting method. A sharp hatchet is almost a guaranteed perfect kill with fractions of a second of suffering. I dont trust myself enough to even attempt slicing.

Some people are not able to eat animals that have been decapitated. Killing cones and a sharp knife are the next best thing.
