well with gas so high and everything rising like crazy how are we supposed to make it.. now just heard on the local news that by next yr gas price will be up to $7 a gallon this is pure insane...

yeah you figure for alot that travel a pretty long ways to work and back each week will be more then a house payment est around $800 in gas if it goes to $7 a gallon alot will be screwed they wont be able to afford prices like that

It is scary!!!
I used to commute at least an hour a day if not two!

My family moved, and I managed to get my job PAPERLESS - with a few software programs and some policy changes, I now work from home. We save a small fortune!

Honestly I don't know what we're gonna do if gas gets up that high....we spent $200 on groceries just the other day, and didn't even get milk, cheese, or bread! This is so ridiculous! If gas gets up that high my hubby is gonna be leaving for work 5 hours beforehand so he has enough time to bike in! He works 35 miles away from home, I figure if he pedals hard he'll make it.....LOL!!!

It gas went to $7.00/gal it would force most of us to re-set our priorities. We (collectively) would have to decide how much we really needed our cars, our luxuries and our conveniences. I am moving my life that way now so that when/if it happens, I will be less impacted than others.

Things I do now: carpool to work; plan my trips to save the most fuel; bicycle for exercise instead of going to the gym; raise chickens; grow a garden; recycle, re-use, and reduce; buy clean and green; call ahead first; etc.

What I plan to do: raise more livestock (goats and/or sheep); form a cooperative with my neighbors to share resources; continue to lower my dependency on non-renewable fuels; etc...

We and our neighbors already share resources to an extent. We bought a nice tractor that the whole neighborhood uses. We supply the eggs to several neighbors. Our neighbor Dave had a large 12 stall barn that we use for our horse; our neighbors the Johnson's collect all of the used oil from the neighborhood and recycle it. Glenn is an electrician and he helps all of us keep our current flowing. Old Paul mows everyone's ditches. Bobby raises beef that we all buy in on. The other Dave has a license to spray chemicals and fertilizers. We all buy hay in bulk and store it in Dave's barn.

My "dream car" is a 150 mpg Plug-in Hybrid Prius and a bunch of solar panels on the roof to power it!

For now, I drive a Suburban.

I live in the Pacific NW and our gas is over 4$ for regular. I drive a turbo VW bug (I love it and hate it) I am paying almost 4.50 a gallon!

I would love to own a hybrid someday...
