I might try to pull it again, Thanks for the info, I might let the vet tryo on Monday if they are still there, maybe they will fall off on their own. There is a spot where one of the ticks is that may be his immune system trying to get it off. Thanks for your time, I'll try until I have to leave for work at 10:30 then I'll have to wait until tonight or tomorrow.

Just pull them off. I promise. We used to be infested in this neck of the woods - before fire ants (only good thing I can say about fire ants is that the tick population has decreased) I have pulled a many tick off dog; cat; myself - just pull it off and flush it down the toilet

if they are imbedded in the skin cover the tick with vasoline it cant breath and will back out then u can grab it better

Pull them with tweezers. Do you use a monthly treatment? Frontline is the best. Takes care of fleas and ticks. Might also want to consider a lymes vaccine.

We had an Aussie in the clinic yesterday, I bet we pulled 25+ ticks (of all sizes) off her and probably didn't get all of them. Nasty!

Just grab the ticks at the base, by the head and pull them off. It is only a wive's tale that the head stays in. I promise. They will come right out and the dog will be fine. Don't wait until Monday. Just pull them off. You will do fine. It won't hurt the dog either.

i actually heard that when they feel a burn they will let go.. and heard heating up a needle or some other metal type thing that will stay hot and sticking it to the tick. will make them let go.

My mom always used a hot head of a match but you have to be very careful with it being on the eye. If your dog won't hold still I wouldn't try this. Mine stay pretty still but it has worked every time I tried it. I would just take a tweezer and have someone hold the dog down and just pull them out.

I bought a special Tick Tweezer called a "Tick Nipper" at my local drug store. It grabs the tick at the base of the head perfectly everytime. Even the tiniest deer tick. They get the tick and mouth parts every time.

The kids aren't afraid of it like they are of the tweezers because they are plastic and not as sharp. If you get the tick off as soon as possible the better. I am not sure about dogs but if you get the tick off a human within 48 hours you should be safe from Lymes disease. My husband and I both had Lymes disease last summer so we always have the "Tick Nipper" on hand and do nightly tick checks on ourselves and the kids. It has become a way of life here. You get Lymes when the tick reguritates back into your system. Nasty I know. They are awful little things! We were on antibiotics for 6 weeks because of them.
