Several weeks into treatment now.. not sure why her left toe looks a bit swollen. The hydrocolloid bandaid has been covering it so I'm going to move it to just the right now. Scab is firm so think she doesn't need to be wrapped anymore.

If she swims the scab may come off which can cause bacteria to get inside so keep an eye on things. Maybe keep spraying with Banixx or Veterycin in the evening before bedtime. Any time we have to do cutting or any type of treatment that causes trauma there will be some swelling just make sure all the infection is out if by end of the week it is still swollen you might think of opening again just to make sure all the bumble is out. Pain in the butt I know but you don’t want to leave it too long if there is still infection inside.

Okay, I'm unsure only because I never took out a kernel, I made a cut but it was too early in the process for anything to be formed. I did cut it and drain it, but only blood came out. Here are the pictures from the beginning of the process.

I'm nervous because I am out of town and will be having a neighbor care for them from the 31st- Nov 3rd. I'm scared to make a cut too late if I need to again as they won't be able to do all the dressing, etc.

Then just watch it may just heal now and the swelling could just be from working on it. I’d def keep using some kind of medication to spray or ointment apply and wrap after. Until you leave. No sense in trying to get the neighbor involved in working on her.

Well unfortunately there were a turn of events. The scab looked larger and much more like bumblefoot yesterday night so I did the surgery. I THINK I got the kernel out. I've looked at so many pictures on here I thought wow! It looks the same! Hahaha. Looks to be healing over already, just hoping nothing else is there.

I did a foot check and my other lady has very cracked feet. One of the cracks is black so I feel it could be bumble developing. I just did vetracyn right now and wrapped tonight. Also put an all natural shea butter/coconut oil type moisturizer on her flippers. I'll be checking them every day and will have to post at end of week how they're both doing.

Officially a duck doctor thanks to you all!

Awesome work !! We sure can’t be intimidated when it comes to treating our flocks most of us don’t have the luxury of an avian vet. Look forward to hearing the update. Good idea to treat this one too.

The swelling as really reduced. I know it's still dark in the center but I really didn't see anything under it, I scraped at it a bit and it just looked like dried blood, what do you think? Do I need to look again ?

I’d not mess with it any longer keep it clean and if it’s not scabbed over keep it covered. It looks good to me.
