Yes unfortunately that will get old after awhile. I wish you the best with him. When I was out earlier this morning feeding everyone, KungPao was at my feet with his girls being a good boy waiting for breakfast. How I don't miss Chewy and his aggressive BS!

I gotta say, I won't miss this guy. He's decent with the girls, but I wish I could explain to him I am the Giant Who Brings The Food. And, I'm allowed to pet the girls. No, they won't have my babies.

Chewy was the same way with his girl and other then his aggression toward me, an awesome Rooster otherwise. I really wished he would have mellowed out, but for whatever his reason he wasn't having it no mater how hard I tried with him.

Might you look for a replacement also you thinking?

What I'd really like to happen:

One of my girls goes broody and means it. Nobody has gone broody yet; this past summer was the hens' first full summer as layers.

I give her 3-4 eggs to hatch. Buff Orp over Blue JG and/or Jubilee Orp and/or Black Australorp. Ok, one of each and maybe a spare.

Then, a miracle occurs. I get 3 pullets and 1 cockerel. Then Darl, roo-boy, goes next door. Or away. Or to hell.

The one cockerel is taught manners by the hens, and respects me, the Giant Who Brings The Food.

What might happen: Darl pushes his luck and meets with an "accident."

What would be acceptable: Darl calms down and my flock stays the same size for another year. Rethinking allowed after that.
