How is your flock today?

@BlueBaby Did you ever find out what the big bang was the other night? Hopefully it wasn't anything serious.

It's crazy how some people take water for granted until they go to use it and there is none. No water in your part of the country is bad news if you have animals who depend on it daily.

I am familiar with the big canal that runs through Phoenix, is this that same water source you are talking about?

No, we haven't found out what the big bang noise was the other night.

Yes, some people do take water for granted, and out here in the desert no one or nothing can survive without some amount of water. My DH has a C-pap machine that he has to use when he sleep's, and uses that distilled water for it. I keep those empty gallon jug's that have the screw top's after he empties them, and refill them with water and set them aside in my house for my animal's incase they would be needed. It's easier to do it that way, then to have to run to a store to buy the jug's of water later when everyone else is there to buy them too (and cheaper too).

I'm not sure where they pump all of the water here from. I do know that it is two separate companies that handle the house water and the irrigation. All of the piping out here is old and wearing out. They don't keep the rural area as up to snuff as they do in the city.

Anyway, apart from that mistake lol, my Brahma just started laying! Surprisingly small eggs though

Sometimes mistakes can be a good thing, so stick around and chat with us. Welcome!

The egg's will gradually get bigger. Those fist egg's are exciting though, as you have to wait so long to get them.

O ok, we only have four Isa Brown hens for fresh eggs and just added Chewy a young Brahma mix breed rooster. So far things have been going good with him, he sure is a friendly little guy. :)
I have a Leghorn, a Bluebell, a Light Sussex, a Cream Legbar Cross (got Legbar in her, don't know what breed the other parent is) an Australorp, a Pekin, two Silkies, a Brahma, three goldlines. We also have twelve button quail ( eight chicks, four adults) we hatched some more on the 15th as we got unlculky with one hen
