How is your flock today?

@WallyG74 Glad to hear things have calmed down. We have four Isa Brown hens who are about ten months old now and just added a four month old rescue cockerel to our mixed flock. Chewy received a little extra special attention at first and we separation him from our hens because they would chase him around with fire in their eyes and wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

Now Chewy is more their size and has been staying with the flock with no issues thank goodness. It will be interested to see how the four hens treat him when he matures, right now they just tolerate him being around.

Two of my pullets are back to laying after a partial molt. The third isn't too far behind. :yesss: I am making a loaf of GF bread with three of their eggs today. I checked: my cockerel is doing his job!
That is great, how old and what breed is your little Roo?

How long do they need to be separated ( Out of view ? ) from the flock for this to work? I have never heard of doing this before, does it work with ducks also?

For a few day's, I would think. Look at the people that have to doctor up the sick or attacked chicken's in the house for a few day's, and then put them back in with the flock. It's like the flock doesn't remember who they are. I don't know if it work's with duck's too or not. I guess that you could ask over in the duck's thread.

How I know the feeling all to well, things here were starting to finally dry out and now I see they are forecasting two days of rain again! :barnie

I got some rain over here too finally. It had been hot and dry all summer without the monsoon showing up. Most of the rain seems to have dumped more water on the north Phoenix area though.
