How long after adoptee hen gets chicks until she’s laying again?

Hello! One of our 8 mo old hens went broody a couple weeks ago and we used it as an opportunity to have her raise some new chicks. She was broody for two weeks and we gave her 1 week old chicks Friday.

She’s doing great as a first time Mama, but I’m wondering when she’ll start laying again? Is it similar as if it were her own eggs hatched (5ish weeks, or when they’re ready to spread their wings?)?

Thanks!

She will begin to lay again shortly after weaning the chicks off of her. My broody hen is currently taking care of her second batch of chicks. They are three weeks old today and she will probably begin the weaning process next week.

Great, thank you!

Yes, This^^^
Could take one month to wean or many more months.
Every bird is different...I've found, and read, that the sooner the wean them the more likely they will go broody again.
