I hope the title wasn't too confusing. I am planning on worming my older flock of 6, 1 year olds today. I have 8-10 week old chicks in a separate area inside...waiting to go out soon. How long must I wait after worming my current flock to introduce the new chicks into the coop? What precautions/preparations should I make to the coop/run area to prevent the new chicks from getting worms that the adults may have shed? I haven't seen any worms in my older chickens poo, just want to make this a yearly preventative event. That being said..their combs do look a little paler than normal so that is another reason I am doing it. I plan to use Valbezene. Any wisdom you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I wouldn't worry about the worms yet for the little ones. So that shouldn't keep them apart. The worm eggs are in the soil already.

But juveniles should be added to adult bird flocks around 16 weeks of age from my experience. Doing so earlier risks injury or death - but it depends on the disposition of the older birds on whether you can get away with integration earlier than 16 weeks of age or not.

I have to worm twice a year around here, since I have already had worm problems on this soil. I retreat at 10 days.
