Got my first today and were pretty excited, just hoping it's not another long wait.

What breed is your chicken? Depending on the breed will determine how often that breed will lay. For instance, leghorns lay just about every day when they are in season (not winter), but polish might lay maybe 2-4 a week.

It depends - some are good right out of the gates and will lay several days in a row. Some will lay their first egg and not lay again for a week. There's no way to tell what you'll get.
