How long after the pip?

Hi, this is my first set of eggs to hatch. There are 3 under my broody O shamo mama. This morning when I checked the eggs under her we had the first pip. I rechecked the eggs after lunch and not much progress is being made. How long do the babies take to hatch?

It can often take upwards of 24 hours, sometimes even longer. I have had chicks take about 30 hours before.

Last time I checked, it was about 14 years. Seriously. TOOK FOREVER.


The CLOCK said it's around 24-36 hours from pip to hatch, but what does it know?!




Seriously, for me, it's usually around the 24-30 hour mark before I get a chick out of a pipped egg. Go to a movie, read a good book. Get a college degree while you wait.

LOL...still waiting...but I have made eye contact with the first one...how cute is that!!!!! they are so little and CUTE!. There is a small new pip on a 2nd egg...not sure on # 3 and mama bird is pecking the CRAP out of me when I come near here. I found a couple of dead grass hoppers to give her tomorrow as a peace offering...lol.
