How long are eggs fertile from certain rooster?

Hi,
If you have your hens w/ one rooster, how long will they be fertile by that rooster if you take him away to put a new roo in with them?
How long does the roos breeding with them last?

Ex: He breeds them today, eggs are fertile for how many days?
one? two? ten? 30?

I don't know the answer to that, but hopefully someone does. Are you trying to breed with a certain roo?

My flock rooster died and the eggs were fertile over two weeks. Sometime about the beginning of week three, they were no longer fertile. It's recommended to wait about 30 days, to be absolutely sure, though.

The hens will be fertile by the previous rooster for 2-3 weeks. After the 2 week mark the fertility starts dropping if no new rooster is added. At 3 weeks the eggs should either be infertile or fertile by the new Roo.

I think the chance of a fertile egg by the old Roo at 3 weeks is less then 5%.

I always wait 4 weeks to make sure the chicks will be by the Rooster I intended.

That is also what my research tells me, 2-3 weeks and then they are no longer fertile.

OK, thanks for the info.
A man had told me he breeds every 3 days by A.I. (silkies)
So it made me wonder how long it was good for.
We have a pen of whites together now but I am getting a new white roo at the ohio nationals, and will be switching my roos out. Just wondered how long it might take for the new guy to start working. ;}
