How long are pea eggs viable?

My peahen started laying on 5/16/16. She has 10 eggs now and still isn't sitting. How long can eggs stay in the nest without being incubated by the hen before they are no longer viable?

Sometimes they just won't sit. If you have a broody chicken hen or an incubator I'd move them now, the oldest would be about 21 days and I'd say that's pushing the limits.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but am a peafowl newbie. She did sit last year, so I was hoping she would this year. Thanks!

Viability is directly related to temperature, turning, and humidity. I read a university study on turkey eggs and its around 13 days at perfect conditions around 7 under normal and around 3 days at 80deg. These are the points hatchability starts to drop not maximums ever achieved. Put them in an incubator and candle at 10 days and throw away the ones not developing.

That also happened with my peahen and eggs. The oldest egg was about 3 weeks and now she has been sitting for close to a week now.. I'm not sure what will happen. It's my first time with a peahen and eggs! I'm afraid to candle because she's so nervous and has never let me near her, never mind her eggs!!

Hit the nail on the head. In the right conditions and healthy adults the eggs start to degrade after 10 days this does not mean they wont hatch but your chances of a healthy chick going full term lessens daily. The conditioning of the parents is critical for healthy viable eggs.
