How long before baby chick is steady

I hatched out a baby silkie and it is about 30 hours old now and its still very unsteady on its feet.How long before it can walk and not fall over.

My chicks were wobbly for a day or so and then they were fine.

Hope yours is okay too. I don't have silkies - try posting on the hatching thread. I bet you will get more opinions from people who know silkies better.

We just hatched two a few weeks ago. I don't remember them being unsteady for that long. My daughter said she remebers them being more wobbly, kind of shakey.

One of the Marans we just hatched took a long time to get steady. Doing great now.

Oh, yeah, we figured out a sure fire way to sex Silkies. At 7 weeks you hear an awful noise similar to two pieces of metal scraping together. You watch your big Silkie extend it's neck and this horrible sound comes out. Boy.
