You'll have to remind her to be careful what she wishes for next time. Yes, sometimes parenting has its little rewards.

On snow days (can't get to the shop, kids are out of school) me and the wife will load a small cooler to support the only American industry thriving in this economy and sit in our barn watching chickens do their thing. We clean up what we can, do a few projects, but mainly we are all bundled up to have a few cold ones. Our kids are lazy (compared to when I was their age) so they don't follow us out in the cold. It's a good time for some alone time with the wife during a 2 day snow in! The key to making chores enjoyable on days like that is 1: Have the proper clothing and 2: Stock up on your favorite foods and beverages.

Here in PA we have 12 inches of snow on top of what we got on the weekend. I went out and collected 6 eggs, but one was knocked out of the box and cracked. I think the chickens were playing pool with the golf balls. They certainly don't want to leave the coop, they would be buried. Stay warm!

I agree with Andi. Not worth the risk.

Tell you what I do. I have this husband who is for some reason totally convinced that I am too delicate to go out in this awful weather (and believe me here in West Virginia it is AWFUL right now.) So he is going out and taking care of the chickens for me.

Now of course you don't have a husband--um, do you have a wife you could convince of your delicateness?

The way I did it was to fall in the driveway on the way to the chickens and he came out to find me lying on my back. I am a little handicapped so I couldn't get up. It's a little extreme, I expect, but you might try it.

I have been staying inside and cooking all kinds of wonderful things with the eggs which I cannot sell because we can't even get off the place with the state in a state of emergency.

Phooey on this weather.

Catherine
