i have 4 hens. 3 of the 4 have been laying about a month. the last one layed an egg almost 2 weeks ago and nothing since. she eats and drinks act normal. i do notice she not real fond of the boys. we have 2 shelves that are high up, and in the late afternoon she will go up there and stay till it's time to go in for the night. none of the other chickens even go up there, but other than that she seems perfectly fine. is this ok for it to be this long in between. the others were only a couple of days.

Is she free range???? I think she's hiding them on you. It's only supposed to be a few days at most in the beginning. My BA had her first egg about 4pm on Thursday. Nothing on Friday. And then Saturday morning an egg. And then Sunday morning an egg.

But some people have seen a few days in between. But it regulates pretty quickly.

Go look up where she only goes. I bet there's a lovely nest up there.

Last year, when my Delawares started laying, I had 10 agonizing days between my first egg and the second.

Now since they have been laying for a month I second fordmommy's suggestion to look for a hidden nest. Last fall, I reached under the hay rack in the goat barn to pull out some waste hay (I had stopped checking there because I never found anything) and found 10 eggs!!

i forgot to put in the initial post they do not free range. we have too many predators. they have a big hen house and run. i have sifted through pine shavings looking for eggs.
