Heard the first peep from the incubator this afternoon (day 20), but I don’t see any eggs that have pipped (incubator has windows). How long can the chick survive before suffocating?

Actually, peeps don't necessarily mean internal pips. I've heard peeps on day 15 before, and there were no internal pips. If they are internally pipped they can go 36 hours before the oxygen supply will run out. They very rarely suffocate though.Heard the first peep from the incubator this afternoon (day 20), but I don’t see any eggs that have pipped (incubator has windows). Thank you so much! First time incubating eggs, and I was pretty worried!Actually, peeps don't necessarily mean internal pips. I've heard peeps on day 15 before, and there were no internal pips. Awesome, congrats on your great hatch!I’m so happy, all 10 of them hatched yesterday! One died in the night in the brooder- I’m not sure why, as it popped out of its shell so hard I expected it to come out tap dancing, so it seemed strong enough- but the other nine are perky and happy! That’s way better than I expected.![]()
Good luck! You can post pics in the breed and gender forum, the members over there might be able to help. Thanks! Now to try to figure who’s who- I have a black silki roo, white silkie roo, and a French copper maran roo, and BPR, RIR, Speckled Sussex, BO, FCM, and Australorp hens. No idea who covered whom when...![]()
